Aaliyah Stampley of Greenville, Derrick Lewis II of Brandon, and Bethany Washington of Greenville recently served as junior pages for the Mississippi Senate. Pages assist in the day-to-day operations of the senate, generally running errands for officials and staff. Aaliyah, Derrick and Bethany are pictured with Lt. Governor Tate Reeves and Senator Derrick T. Simmons who sponsored their visit. Aaliyah is the daughter of Jeyon L. Thompson and attends Greenville High School, Derrick is the son of Derrick and Lamesha Lewis and attends Northwest Rankin High School, and Bethany is the daughter of Shurn and Allison Washington and attends Greenville Christian School. When asked about the week, they said, the experience at the Capitol was very informative. They are honored to have been chosen to serve the Mississippi legislature, learn more about state politics and meet other young leaders in the state. They highly appreciate Senator Simmons for making the week engaging.
