I applaud the Supreme Court’s rejection again of yet another effort to destroy the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare.

It shows most justices know the universal health insurance act has helped millions of Americans who before it was declared constitutional, could not be insured.

Since I was elected to the Senate, I have worked to expand Medicaid and have supported the Affordable Care Act that gave so many Mississippians the ability to have health insurance coverage they normally would not be able to acquire or afford.

The justices realize America will continue to benefit from the Affordable Care Act and understand obtaining health insurance and being able to afford needed medicines are basic human rights we each are entitled to.  It is my hope that leaders in this state will join me in expanding Medicaid, creating tens of thousands of health-related jobs, and affording quality health insurance to nearly 300,000 Mississippians left behind.
